Simple Halloween Crafts for Toddlers

Halloween always brings out the creative side of people. Parents, Teachers, and Day Care providers are always looking for fun, but simple crafts to do with the children. Some things that are fun about getting ready for the Halloween Season, is heading out to the pumpkin patches. There is nothing like finding that perfect pumpkin to carve, or what about searching for the perfect Halloween Costume. Do not forget getting those decorations to make the house look spooky.

Here I have for you two simple crafts that are designed for the toddlers. These craft are not only simple, but the children will have fun making them. You will want to make sure you have prepared for these activities in advance, so that the children can get started right away.

What you will need:

Scissors

Orange, Black, Yellow, Green, and Brown construction paper

Glue

Paper Jack-o-Lantern

First, you will want to have all your pumpkins cut out of the orange construction paper. I personally recommend since this is being done with smaller children, all pumpkins, faces, and stems be cut out prior to the children doing this activity.

After all the shapes are cut out for your pumpkin, now is time to let the children glue on the eyes, mouths, and stems. Another fun thing to do with these pumpkins if you would rather not use glue is let them decorate those using crayons. Once you have all the pumpkins made, make your own pumpkin patch.

What you will need:

Pumpkins

Non-toxic pain

Old shirt

Pumpkin Painting

Not only is decorating the house and dressing up in fun Halloween Costumes fun, but also making the best pumpkin. However, the smaller children are left out of the fun when it comes to carving those spooky pumpkins.

Therefore, here is another option that is a lot safer for the smaller children and will bring the children hours of fun.  Paint the pumpkins instead, make sure the children have old shirts on, just in case they get some on their clothes. Let your child’s imagination go to work, hand them either markers, or paint and let them have a blast painting the perfect pumpkin.

If you are worried about the mess this may have inside you can set up an area outside. Make sure to get lots of pictures, because these make great scrapbooking pictures.

Always remember to have fun, that is one thing the holidays are all about, having fun with your family.

Halloween Wreath Craft

Are you a schoolteacher and looking for fun and easy crafts for your classroom? Below I will show you how to make a Halloween Wreath, that not only will the kids love doing, but moms as well.

You will need:

Paper Plates (You will need 1 per person doing this Halloween Craft Project)

Scissors

Leaves (Lots of leaves or all shapes, sizes and colors)

Glue Sticks

Orange Construction Papers

White Construction Paper

Black Construction Paper

Washable Black Marker

Black Yarn (optional)

If this will be a solo project for the children, a few things need to be done prior to the kids taking over. This should be done before you start actually making the wreath.

You will need to cut the center of each paper plate, before you give them out to the children. This will make your base to the wreaths.

The next step can be done in a few different ways, you can have the children gather leaves at home or you can take the children outside to gather leaves.

Make sure to get all different colors, shapes, and sizes. You should collect enough leaves to cover each paper plate. Once you have done this you, can head back inside and have the children glue their leaves onto their paper plates. Have fun with this; there is never a wrong way when you are having fun. After everyone has glued their leaves on their plates, let them dry for at least 24 hours.

After the leaves have dried, now it is time to become creative. Have the children make fun Halloween images with the construction paper. Some ideas are, orange for the pumpkins, use markers to make faces on them.

White construction paper can be used to make bones, mummies, and spooky ghosts.

Black construction paper, can be used to make witches hats, cats, and whatever other creative Halloween item the children can think of.

After the children have made everything, they would like to decorate their wreaths with, cut out the images, so they can glue them to their wreaths.

Remember the main thing is to have fun.

Halloween Witches Hand Craft

Halloween crafts are a good way to get the children involved in the festive events. Whether you are doing an event for school or church this next craft will be a big hit.

Not only is this craft fun, but it is also very inexpensive.

You will need:

Green card or paper

Scraps of black, red or purple card, paper, felt, tissue paper etc

Pencils and pens

White glue

Instructions:

Make sure you have enough supplies for all the children, first give them all a green piece of paper, and then trace around the children’s hand. After you have traced all the hands, carefully cut them out.

Now take the scrap paper you have from cutting out the hand, and cut oval shapes for the fingernails. Using a small amount of glue put the fingernails on the hands. Have fun with these and make them fingernails look stylish.

Have fun with this project, you can add the spidery veins and warts to your hand to make them more witchy looking.

Halloween Spooky Spider Craft

One of my favorite Halloween crafts for kids is the Spooky Spider. Not only is this craft fun, but it also helps strengthen a child’s fine motor skills. You can do this in a small group of children or a large group. Just make sure you have enough material. This is even a great activity for older children.

You will need:

Black paper, unless you want different colored spiders

Scissors, if you are doing this activity with small children make sure to supervise

Glue or sticky-tape

Googly eyes (optional) if you do not have these on hand, you can use construction paper, and color crayons to make the eyes.

Instructions:

First think you need to do, is cut out a rectangle. The rectangle should measure approximately 3in by 3 1/2 in. You will want to fold the short side down, about an inch to make a crease, after you have made the crease, open up the rectangle again.

Now you will want to turn your paper, so that your crease is horizontal. After you have the crease horizontal, go ahead and cut the paper in 7 straight lines, to the crease. This will create your 8 spider legs. If you are working with younger kids, make sure you help them, by drawing a line for them, and letting them cut the legs. This will give them some practice with scissors.

Now go ahead and wrap the spider around the child’s finger, and tape it into place, or you can put a small amount of glue on it and glue it. Take the spider off the child’s finger and decorate. When you have your spider, all decorated put it back on the finger and bend the legs into shape. This can be done with a pencil.

Halloween Egg Carton Creepy Critters Craft

With Halloween come fun crafts we do with our children. These crafts are so simply you can pretty much make them with things you already have laying around the house. A few of my favorites you can make with Egg cartons.

Egg Carton Bat

Things you need:

* A clean egg carton, either the cardboard or Styrofoam with work fine.
* Googly eyes, You will need these to make the face.
* Paint, if you want to be crafty you can make some tie dye bats. Or you can just get black paint and paint them black.
* String, you will need this to hang up your bat.
*Scissors
*Glue

1. First thing you want to do is cut out 3 of the egg holders; make sure you leave them connected. This is the start of your bat.
2. Cut out the front and back of the outside holders, you want to make these look like the bats wings.
3. Now you need to paint your bat, if this is a school art project maybe paint the bats your school colors, and then hang them all over your class.
4. Once the paint has dried you can make it have a cool face with creepy teeth and eyes.

Once you have your bat looking awesome, poke a hole in the top of your bats head. Take your string and make sure you tie a knot in it big enough so it will not go through the head. Now hang it up somewhere and look at your beautiful creation.

For best results make lots. After all you are recycling old egg cartons
Are you ready for another fun Egg carton Craft?
What you need for the Egg Carton Spider:
*1 egg holder, So 1 egg carton will make 12 spooky spiders.
*Paint to paint your spiders, again have fun with this you do not have to paint them black.
*Googly eyes, your spider needs eyes!
* Pipe Cleaners, need to make those legs don’t you.
* Scissors
*Glue
1. Cut out one egg holder. This will be your spider once we have completed this project.
2. Get out the paints and paint your spider. If you want, you can make a black widow. In this case use red and black paint. Just have fun and make these spiders look spooky.
3. After these have dried add your eyes. You can use either paint or googly eyes.
4. Now you need to take a pointy pair of scissors and make four small holes on each side of the egg holder. You can also use a pencil if you need to.
5. Take your pipe cleaners and insert them into the holes. Tie them together on the inside so they do not fall out. Now bend them to form legs and so your spider will stand up.
Put your spiders all over the room.
